Mission
1. To propagate scientific research in the field of psychiatry and the related sciences produced by researchers working in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
2. To provide continuing medical education, in the form of evidence-based information, for the mental health professionals in those countries.
Basic information
The Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria (RBP, Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry) publishes original articles, case reports, review articles, brief reports, updates, special articles and book reviews.
The abbreviated title, which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographic references, is Rev Bras Psiquiatr.
Indexing sources
The journal is indexed in the Medline, Excerpta Medica, Secondary Publishing Division (Embase), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SciELO), Biological Abstracts (Biosis), Psychological Abstracts (PsychoInfo), Lilacs (Bireme), Social Sciences Citation Index do Web of Science, Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) and Current Contents/Social & Behaviol Sciences.
Periodicity
The journal has been released quarterly since 1979, without interruption. In addition, the journal publishes two supplements per year containing review articles on specific topics.
Language
Initially, all articles were published in Portuguese. Since 2002, original articles have been published in English. In 2004, all of the articles published in the print version of the journal appeared in Portuguese, whereas those published in the electronic version appeared in both English and Portuguese. Since the beginning of 2005, original articles (hard copy and electronic format versions) have been published in English only, and review articles have been published in either Portuguese or English (depending on the language in which they were submitted). Supplements are now printed in Portuguese only and published electronically in both English and Portuguese.
All articles have titles, abstracts and keywords in Portuguese and English.
